My journey began long before I stepped into my first yoga class in 2014.
For much of my life, I struggled with body image, self-worth, and an inner critic that constantly told me I wasn't enough. That voice kept me isolated, disconnected, and searching for ways to soothe the discomfort I felt inside.
When I found yoga, I wasn't looking for a spiritual practice. I was simply looking for relief.
What I discovered was something far greater.
Through the physical practice and philosophical teachings of yoga, I began to develop self-awareness. For the first time, I started to recognize the patterns, beliefs, and coping mechanisms that had quietly shaped my life. I realized I had spent years using food to numb emotional discomfort and avoid difficult feelings.
As my self-awareness grew, I began to see other forms of escape as well. What I once justified as "medicinal" marijuana had become another way of avoiding what I wasn't ready to face.
Eventually, I reached a turning point.
On August 5, 2020, I attended my first recovery meeting.
More than anything, I wanted to stop numbing and start living.
Recovery introduced me to a deeper level of honesty, accountability, and spiritual growth. It also revealed something that felt surprisingly familiar.
In yoga, there is a practice known as Svadhyaya, or self-study. In recovery, we engage in a similar process through the Twelve Steps. Both paths invite us to look inward with courage, humility, and compassion. Both ask us to become willing to see ourselves clearly. And both remind us that growth is not a destination, but a lifelong practice.
Today, my work bridges these two worlds.
As a Yoga Teacher, Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, Recovery Group Facilitator, and Peer Support Specialist certification candidate, I help others explore their own journey of self-discovery. My approach combines recovery principles, mindfulness, yoga philosophy, and lived experience to support meaningful and sustainable change.
I believe healing begins when we become willing to look inward—not with judgment, but with curiosity and compassion.
If you're ready to deepen your recovery, reconnect with yourself, or explore a more purposeful way of living, I would be honored to walk alongside you on that journey.
